We had nine adults and five youth go to New York on the Summer of 2018. They did work at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Lower-Eastside Manhattan. They worked on the physical structure of the church and also their daily meals program that feeds hundreds of people.
On Monday, June 25th five Peace youth and their leader loaded a synod bus in Platteville with three other churches and headed for Houston! LCOP joined groups from First English (Platteville), Faith (Cuba City), and Argyle (Argyle). After an overnight in Little Rock, Arkansas, the South Central Synod of Wisconsin’s bus caravan arrived in Houston. 724 people (59 congregations) from SCSW stayed together.
On July 14th seventeen youth and adults from the Lutheran Church of Peace went to Jacksonville, Florida. They worked on homes, doing roofing, painting, and more.. They also got to spend a couple of days on the beach, where they spent time worshiping, listening to Christian speakers and bands, and playing in the surf.
Six people went on a mission trip to Russia. The trip started with a couple of days in St. Petersburg, visiting cathedrals. In Kaluga, Russia, they spent six days visiting children in orphanages, visiting churches and visiting rehabilitation centers. The trip ended with spending a couple of days in Moscow. Money was raised for a much needed transitional house. The transitional house is for orphans age 16 and up, that are trying to transition into society.
